A couple of weeks ago, the Sherry family took s little vacation to the Texas Hill Country. We rented a house on the Blanco River in Wimberly for a few days of leisure. Unfortunately, we arrived just in time for the tail end of a hurricane to swell the river and swimming holes, making them inaccessible. So, we entertained ourselves with randomness!
This is Liam at Leif's place in Austin, playing in the rain before we got in the car. Good fun, but definitely out of order...

Day One: we took a road trip to Fredericksburg to find an alleged toy museum. These pics were snapped at a rest stop along the way when there was a break in the rain:
The arms back make him much more aerodynamic!
This was definitely one of the highlights for Liam: eating Sonic in the driver's seat! He kept making orders out the window! Leif and Liam are making the exact same face here:
We found no toy museum in Fredericksburg, and the locals looked at us like we were crazy when we enquired after such a place. So, we found this little cafe and played on these stairs:
Ate this crazy expensive (but absolutely delicious) brownie:
Ran around the courtyard:
And hung out with this enormous dog:

We found a more reasonably sized and more accessible dog at a home store:
Back at the homestead, we played on the deck.
Putting water in a bucket entertained Liam for a good little while! You can see the muddy river beyond:

We like to squish Liam's face on things:

We also hit up this toy store where Liam shook these eggs for a while:

Day Two: We hoped to get into some water at some point, but luck was not with us in this instance. So what did we do?
In the morning, we played at a little park and attempted a nature trail briefly before being turned back by standing water:

In the afternoon, after driving in a few circles, we found Mount Baldy and climbed it!
It is easiest to carry Liam on the shoulders, though a little nerve wracking on such an incline!

The summit!

Their outfits weren't intentionally coordinated, but made for excellent pictures!

Back at the house we found a hose!!!

We did not set this up, I swear, but it implies easy potty training!!!
Leif captured some wonderful video of the hose play, but I'll have to post that later. Let's just say, Liam learned to attack!!!
That evening we grilled steaks. While I took this picture, Leif was telling Liam, "Don't look at the camera. You have to look at the meat."

Day Three: Once again we were disappointed at not being able to get in the water and it was time to head back to Austin.

Okay, so Liam needs a backpack. He loved walking around with Jacob's!

Glad y'all found the silver lining! Looks like your boy had a blast.
